Our mission is to provide a safe learning environment that is supportive of our students' potential as they develop academically and socially.  We strive to bridge the gap between what the students know and what they need to know.  We commit to building background knowledge, to scaffolding instruction, to providing a spectrum of materials and to giving ample time for cooperative interactions for all student.  We recognize that all students are capable of achieving high expectations while we celebrate all growth in learning as a success.  We are dedicated to working with parents and the community to ensure a strong educational foundation.

The Mark Twain teaching staff is committed to communicating with you regularly about classroom events.   Unfortunately, due to safety precautions and District and State guidelines due to the Covid pandemic there are some new changes on campus.  Our school social worker, Mrs. Griffiths is available should you need further resources or have concerns.
  • No visitors (yes this includes parents) on campus.  For the safety of all students and staff we will not be letting visitors in the door or walk their child to class.
  • Students will enter the building via the back playground doors as early as 8:10 – or bus arrival and go to their classrooms – and start their breakfast.
  • All students must wear a mask while on campus (please send with two) They will not wear a mask while at lunch or recess.  Teachers will work with your child to help remind them to wear their mask – it is a learning opportunity and we will work on it together.
  • Please send your child with a water bottle as drinking fountains are closed – but our water bottle filling stations are still accessible.
  • All students and staff will be washing hands frequently and using hand sanitizers as needed.

I know these are uncharted times, and a unique school experience – however, I know we will be stronger as a result of these changes and our kids will do a great job.  Please let me know if you need any support from our school staff as we work together.

Together in Education,

Ruthlee Caloiaro
