Our mission is to create a learning community that fosters student achievement and promotes the development of confident, lifelong learners.
 

Principal's Highlights

Mark Twain Elementary School provides a research-based academic program for grades pre-K thru 5th.  Our goal is for each child, each day, to achieve and succeed to high standards. 

  • Mark Twain utilizes a daily, comprehensive 90-minute school-wide reading program, Success For All. 
  • Our Pre-K - 5 curriculums include technology, music and physical education taught by highly qualified specialist. 
  • Individualized Computer Assisted Instruction includes Lexia and Alphie (reading) and Zip Zoom and ELLIS (ESL).
  • Mark Twain's Response to Intervention (RTI) team meets weekly to ensure academic growth for all students.
  • Mark Twain has a grade 3-5 Gifted and Talented program which provides a differentiated curriculum and enrichment classes.
  • MAP Testing is given three times yearly and used for student goal-setting and the planning of instruction.
  • The Soaring Hawks after school remediation program is provided to students to build skills in reading, math and writing.
  • Community partnerships provide enrichment programs in Science, Multimedia Arts and instrumental music education.
  • Our Family Resource Center offers workshops for parents.  Parents participate in our P.T.A. and Latino Parent Committee.

 

 

Goals

Objective(s):
  • Achievement in English Language Arts (ELA) will improve with training and fidelity to research-based instruction and assessment.
  • Teachers will participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to monitor ELA achievment and plan interventions and enrichment for all students.
