Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition ‘Step Into Spring’ program provided 219 pairs of new shoes with pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students in transition this morning. Students in Transition are those individuals who lack a fixed, regular or adequate nighttime residence.

With the global pandemic hampering the annual event last year, the school district was pleased to move forward and assist students in need again this spring. Ten schools sent representatives to collect shoes for students in need.

The event is made possible each year by generous donations from community supporters including Harley Davidson Financial Services and Carson City Elks Lodge. Big 5 Sporting Goods provided the shoes for these students again this year at a generous discount. Additionally, Big 5 also included socks with each pair of shoes.
